The first, and most obvious point to make – though it bears repeating – is to make sure your beard stays properly groomed. To that end, we mean keeping it trimmed, washed, and styled appropriately for the workplace. There are a variety of products available on the market that make this easier than ever nowadays, though The Voyager Beard & Hair Oil from Native Man should be included in every bearded man's arsenal.
Building on this, it's important to make sure that your beard is a good fit for your face and overall look. To quote fashion experts, the rule of thumb is that square faces tend to suit a beard that fleshes out your face – one that is fuller on the chin, but flattens out on the sides. The opposite is true for those with rounder face shapes, who are best advised to seek a triangular-shaped beard – one which lengthens out towards the chin. Of course, this is all up to personal preference at the end of the day, but when sizing it all up, bear in mind that more conservative workplaces will generally tend to favour a beard that is shorter overall.
Your face is the first thing people notice. It’s your true source of distinction. But, as you grow older, healthy skin is harder to come by. However, if you take care of your skin, you can be the envy of your peers with a fresh and lively complexion.
Adding organic Australian made skincare products to your daily routine is essential. Natural skincare is good skincare and you should always avoid using harsh chemicals on your skin. Here are some other top tips.
1. Don’t wash your face with soap
If you’re washing your face with soap every night before bed—stop now. Detergent-based soap strips your skin of its natural oils and leaves behind a slimy film. A facial cleanser, such as Native Man’s Wash + Shave, is a better choice of facewash for men. Made from native Australian botanicals, this mint-scented foaming gel leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed.
2. Moisturise morning and night
Following cleansing, moisturising is the next most important step in your skincare routine. As you age, your skin loses its natural dewiness and buoyancy. This can lead to a worn-out, haggard appearance. Hydrating your skin day and night with a lightweight moisturiser will keep your skin looking bright and firm. Native Man’s Moisturiser + Aftershave is non-greasy and leaves a matte finish, so you won’t look shiny. The carefully crafted ingredients contain a mix of organic Australian botanicals to hydrate, smoothen and restore your skin’s elasticity.
3. Take care of your facial hair
Your facial hair is an important part of your look. A well-groomed and oiled beard presents a distinguished appearance. Native Man’s The Voyager Beard & Hair Oil is ideal for softening your beard, eliminating itchiness, and moisturising the underlying skin. Use a beard oil daily to hamper flakiness, promote growth, and prevent split ends.

]]>Well, the truth is, you should care! Skincare is for everyone. If you want to age like Jared Leto, Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, you’ll need to develop an effective skincare routine now. But where should you begin?
]]>Maybe that’s why many men don’t follow a skincare routine. Maybe it’s all too overwhelming? Maybe they don’t care? Well, the truth is, you should care! Skincare is for everyone. If you want to age like Jared Leto, Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, you’ll need to develop an effective skincare routine now. But where should you begin?
So, let’s start with the basics. A good skincare routine comprises four main products: a cleanser, a moisturiser, an exfoliator and a sunscreen. Cleansers keep your pores clear and free your skin of dirt and excess oil while moisturisers prevent your skin from drying out. Exfoliators tackle acne, clogged pores and flaky skin and sunscreen protects you from sun damage—the leading cause of early ageing.
How to choose a cleanser?
When choosing a cleanser, look for natural skincare options. Some skincare products contain unnatural ingredients which can strip skin of its natural oils. Some cleansers combine cleanser and shave cream into the same product. Native Man Skincare’s Wash + Shave is an Australian-made product containing native botanicals. It’s organic skincare for men, designed to keep your skin clean and your shave smooth.
How to choose a moisturiser?
It’s a great idea to choose a moisturiser that works in tandem with your cleanser. The Native Man Moisturiser + Aftershave is ideal for use after shaving and cleansing to bring hydration back to your face. However, always choose a moisturiser with a matte finish to avoid looking shiny throughout the day.
How to choose an exfoliator and sunscreen?
Exfoliating is an essential step for removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and preventing wrinkles. Avoid physical exfoliators such as skin scrubs—they are often too harsh on the skin and can lead to redness and irritation. Chemical exfoliants are a better choice, but make sure to do your research.
Of course, all skincare routines aren’t complete without an effective sunscreen. Choose a product with 50+ SPF for the best protection.

]]>Harsh winds, brutally cold temps, artificial heat — these hallmarks of winter can spell disaster for your skin.
Don’t know where to begin? It takes more than just liberally applying moisturizer to beat the drying effects of near-freezing temperatures. Below, we’re sharing essential winter men’s skin-care tips to follow to ensure your skin makes it through the cold season unscathed and looking its best.
]]>Don’t know where to begin? It takes more than just liberally applying moisturizer to beat the drying effects of near-freezing temperatures. Below, we’re sharing essential winter men’s skin-care tips to follow to ensure your skin makes it through the cold season unscathed and looking its best.
Winter Skin Tip for Men #1: Shower With Lukewarm Water
When it’s cold out, we all enjoy taking steamy hot showers to warm up. But while it feels good on our skin in the moment, water that’s too hot can actually strip the skin of natural oils, causing it to become dry. Opt for lukewarm showers that are shorter in length, instead.
Winter Skin Tip for Men #2: Don’t Skip Deodorant
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you should be skipping deodorant. The right formula will not only keep away any unwanted stench, but it will also condition your skin.
Winter Skin Tip for Men #3: Cleanse Your Skin With a Gentle Face Wash
Some cleansers can strip your skin of moisture, but that’s no excuse to skip the ritual altogether. Your skin comes into contact with pollution, dirt and impurities every day, which — if left on your skin’s surface — can end up wreaking havoc in the form of breakouts. In order to thoroughly remove the grime from the surface of your skin before it clogs your pores, be sure to cleanse your skin morning and night. Reach for a gentle cleanser that can hydrate your skin (instead of stripping much-needed moisture) while removing unwanted impurities. We recommend the Native Man Wash + Shave. This cleanser gently washes away impurities without over-drying, making it the perfect addition to your winter routine. The cleanser has a soothing, soft texture that moisturizes and soothes your skin, and is suitable for combination to oily, sensitive skin types.
Winter Skin tip for Men #4: Mosturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!
If moisturizing your skin is already a part of your daily skin care regimen, kudos! But with winter here, it might be time to kick it up a notch — not just any moisturizer is going to cut it against the winter winds. Look for a moisturizer that helps to repair and maintain your skin barrier. A layer of sebaceous (or oily) lipids covers your skin. Be on the lookout for products containing these emollient ingredients to strengthen your skin's natural barrier, helping hold on to essential moisture. One particular one that we recommend is Native Man Moisturiser + Aftershave, which smells amazing too.
Winter Tip for Men #5: Room Humidifier
A lot of people didn't realize this, but when you have your heater on full blast, it takes away a lot of moisture in the air, which can further dry your skin, causing them to be dry and itchy. It's time for you to invest in a room humidifier, which not only puts the moisture back into the air, but the soothing sound from this little machine will also put you in a better mood too!

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it seems like the world has completely changed overnight. Companies realizing employees need more flexibility and options to work remotely.
Here are tips on how to appear professional in video conferences.
Lighting is critical. If you can, sit facing a big window. Natural light is almost always better than artificial light. (Artificial light comes in a lot of different color temperatures that aren’t noticeable to your eye, but look wonky on camera.) Make sure the light source is in front of you, not behind you, so you don’t get accidentally silhouetted.
Control your background. Your natural environment says a lot about who you are. This may be your co-workers’ first time seeing you outside the office; do they really need a visual on the dirty dishes stacked up on the counter, or your tornado of a living room? Be mindful of what is in your background. Can you position yourself in front of a blank wall? At least pick something clean and neutral, without busy patterns.
Position the camera right. Ideally, you want the camera to be straight on or slightly above you, pointing downward for the most flattering angle. If the camera is angled up at you, you’ll show off your nose hair and a lot of chin.
Fill the frame. Do you ever turn on cable news and the talking head is at the bottom of the screen with a whole lot of empty ceiling above? I didn’t think so. Position yourself so you’re squarely in the middle of the frame, with your nicely lit, smiling face filling up at least one-third of the space.
Wear something bright and solid. Head-to-toe black is my safety blanket, but it looks awful on camera. So do busy patterns like checks, florals and tiny stripes, which can have a moiré effect. Here’s where you take a cue from newscasters, who are almost always dressed in solid, bright colors. Business on top, sleepwear on the bottom, I’ll never tell. This might also be pretty obvious...but wash your face. Do your hair. Put in just a tiny bit of effort to look somewhat socially acceptable... at least for the duration of the Zoom meeting. For an easy, good skincare, we recommend The Complete Duo from Native Man.
There’s a mute button. Use it. Spare the rest of the meeting from hearing all the background noise at your house. Yes, we’re all working from home but it can be distracting for co-workers to overhear violent potty noises. Wearing a headset with a microphone, even a basic cheap set, improves your sound quality dramatically.
If all else fails … put a Post-it note over your camera.

They say the first impression is more important than anything. Of course, you want to look incredibly hot. No kidding. However, this can be hard to achieve at times. Read on to learn how to look hot on your date.
]]>
Plan your outfit. Work up a rough idea of what you'll be wearing. As time goes by and you buy new clothes, edit the outfit. Good ideas might be baby blue button-up shirts with brown pants in the winter or fall. Brand names might be good, too.
Pick out cologne. You don't need this, but it works great with the ladies. If you decide you want it, you won't be sorry. The girl will be all over you if it smells good. However, if you put too much on, it might stink, and she won't want anything to do with you!
Try on the whole outfit. Now that you have everything planned out, put it all together. Get into your clothes, put on your cologne, fix your hair. Don't do it sloppily-act like you are going out on the date. Once you're ready, look at yourself in the mirror. Note down any flaws or things to improve the outfit, and make sure you fix them up. This is a very important step-don't be lazy and skip it, you will regret it.
Take a shower before getting ready. Rushing home from school/work and jumping into your outfit can leave you looking red and sweaty. Skip that and take a relaxing but refreshing shower. If your hair looks nice just after it's washed, wash it. If it gets incredibly frizzy after being a wash, wash it the day before and tuck it into a shower cap while you shower. Wash with a nice smelling shampoo, such as the Native Man Natural Citrus Hair + Body Shampoo.
Fix your hair and skin. While you're fresh out of the shower and still in your towel, do a little grooming. Wash your face with Native Man Wash + Shave and dab on some face cream, such as Native Man Moisturiser + Aftershave, brush your teeth, and put lotion on your whole body. It will make your skin nice and soft-perfect for a nice date...Don't rush around, be careful and thorough. You might be excited by now, but just keep your cool-right?
Get ready carefully. The first thing you should do is get into your clothes. Don't do your hair, because that can all be ruined by putting on your clothes. So put on your outfit first, then your cologne. Then do your hair, so it looks good for the date. Just be careful.
Don't wreck anything. Once you're ready, sit and watch T.V or chat to a friend. Don't run about outside or start making food. Be careful, just don't do anything that might wreck any of your hair or clothes. It might be hard, but sitting quietly would be a good option. If you really can't, read a magazine, or chat to a friend on the phone.
Smile. You've probably noticed that even the most physically attractive people are a turn off when frowning. A genuine smile is hard to fake and gives off good vibes and reflect your inner confidence.

Enter teen acne. The biggest self-esteem killer for all teenagers. There is something about this detestable condition that can create so much unhappiness in a person already struggling with their changing body.
Here are some skincare tips for teenager boys:
In particular:
1. Be Gentle While Cleansing
When cleansing the face, it is important that you don’t completely strip your skin. Don’t scrub your skin aggressively. Oily skinned teenage boys should opt for foam or gel cleansers, such as Native Man Wash + Shave.
2. Moisturize
When the skin loses moisture, it becomes dull and flaky. A moisturizer helps replenish lost moisture in the surface of your skin. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type such as an oil-free moisturizer for oily skin and a fragrance-free moisturizer for sensitive skin, such as Native Man Moisturiser + Aftershave.
3. Use Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
Dandruff can exacerbate acne. Use anti-dandruff shampoo to treat dandruff. For best results, lather the shampoo twice, and wait for 5 minutes after lathering the 2nd time, then rinse it off.
Always try to keep your hair off your face.
4. Protect Your Skin
UVA and UVB rays from the sun cause premature aging, sunburns, and skin cancer. It may cause your acne scars to darken. Protect your skin using an oil-free sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and PA rating of +++.
Avoid the sun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when the sun’s rays are strongest. Wear long-sleeved shirts, full pants, and wide-brimmed hats as protection.
Don’t use tanning beds to conceal acne or scars. These are very damaging to skin. Spray tans are a much better alternative.
5. Don’t Use Toothpaste As Spot Treatment
Using toothpaste as an overnight pimple fix could do you more harm than good. The ingredients in toothpaste will cause your face to sting or even worse if you are allergic to any ingredients.

The classic is Tim Tams, however, they are generally available in the USA and UK so you might want to try a few other things that are ONLY available in Australia. And btw – If you are getting Tim Tams, don’t buy them at Australian airport duty-free – as you can pay over $8.00 a packet!
Examples of other treats include many Arnott’s, Cadbury or Allen’s classics that just aren’t available anywhere else except Australia (or Australian themed shops overseas). These include Picnics, Cherry Ripes, Mint Slice, Iced Vovos, Caramello Koalas, Freddo Frogs, Cadbury Furry Friends, or Wagon Wheels.
2. Vegemite
Not everyone loves it, sure. But bringing home at least one jar of vegemite home means that you’ve been to the Land Down Under. Made from leftover brewers’ yeast extract, you only need a small amount of this black Australian spread for your toast to taste good.
Fun fact: Did you know that vegemite is not only eaten with bread and butter? Australians use it in making spaghetti, beef stews, and tomato toast, too!

While acne is a normal part of being a man, there are things you can do to clear up your skin.
]]>
1 Over-the-Counter Acne Treatments
If you've just started breaking out, you may be able to clear your skin with store-bought acne products (AKA over-the-counter acne medications). But not all acne products are created equal. The most effective will contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Look for these listed as the active ingredients on the label. Don't worry too much about the brand name, or what form of treatment you're using (i.e. cleanser, medicated pads, lotion). Instead, choose a product that fits your budget and is easy for you to use. If over-the-counter products are right for you, you should notice an improvement within 10 to 12 weeks.
2 Prescription Acne Medication
If you've tried a ton of OTC products and you're still breaking out, it's time to call for backup. Your doctor has plenty of prescription acne treatment options that will help you get your acne under control. You don't necessarily have to see a dermatologist, either. You can see your regular doctor first and they'll refer you to a dermatologist if they think it's necessary. The advantage here is that prescription medications are going to be stronger and they usually work faster than OTC treatments. Also, they can work even when OTC products haven't.
3 (Actually) Use Your Treatments Correctly
Once you get your treatments home, you have to actually use them. And if you're not using them, they aren’t going to clear your skin. We know you're busy, and using treatments is a hassle, and there are times when you just flat-out forget. However, using those treatments is important, so do whatever it takes to use them every day.Make sure you know exactly how to use your acne medications. That means reading all the directions (even if it seems obvious) and following the instructions your doctor gives you. Be sure to ask if you have any questions, too. It may sound like a pain, but it is important. Once you get into the habit of using your treatments, it really isn't that bad and doesn't take too much time.
4 Regular skin care routine
Even though acne isn't caused by not washing your face, the excess oil and dirt that builds up throughout the day won't help matters. Sweat can also irritate your skin and make acne worse. That is why a good skin care routine is important. It only takes a few minutes a day and doesn't require a ton of fancy products like some girls enjoy using. All you need is a gentle facial cleanser, such as Native Man Wash + Shave , and a moisturiser after, such as Native Man Moisturiser + Aftershave, which is made with all natural ingredients and will not cause your skin to feel oily.
5 Don't Put Weird Stuff On Your Face
Your best friend tells you to put toothpaste on your pimples; your grandpa says rubbing alcohol will clean and clear your skin. The internet is crawling with home remedies sworn to banish pimples. But, truly, if it sounds weird you probably shouldn't be putting it on your face. Many of the commonly suggested remedies for acne, like cinnamon, garlic, and lemon juice, can be extremely irritating if applied to the skin. Other things, like Windex or urine, can be plain dangerous (not to mention gross). These remedies simply aren't effective; actual acne medications are going to give you much better results. If you're desperate to heal a big pimple, use an acne spot treatment instead of a strange remedy.
6 Be Careful to Not Shave Pimples
Shaving is another matter. If you have pimples in the beard area, do your best to shave carefully. Go around them if at all possible or, at least, try to avoid shaving the tops off of your pimples. The more you irritate your skin, the redder and more inflamed it's going to look. The skin on your face can be sensitive, so try to treat it as gently as you can. This may mean shaving less often until the inflammation goes down.

What man doesn’t want clear and vibrant skin? If you’re not sure what else you can do to keep your face blemish-free, we’ve got you covered with these 4 easy steps:
Step 1: Get some real quality sleep!
Sorry guys, but those late nights are doing a number on your skin.
As you sleep, your skin goes into repair and regeneration mode. Not getting a full eight hours of sleep disrupts your skin’s healing process, which can worsen the appearance of blemishes and give you dark under-eye circles.
Not only that, but a lack of sleep can indirectly cause acne by increasing your cortisol levels. Poor sleep habits have been shown to increase cortisol levels, which then triggers the skin’s sebaceous glands to produce more oil.
Step 2: Drink plenty of water!
While it’s almost a cliché, the best thing you can do for your skin is to drink quality water, and lots of it – as much as 13 cups a day (and up to double that in warmer climates). Water flushes your skin of toxins and free radicals, promotes restoration, and keeps skin supple. I like to drink a tall glass of water before each meal and find it helps eradicate excess hunger, which could lead to weight loss. Water is also necessary for getting over a hangover!
Step 3: Find a Skin Care Routine and Stick To It!
There are a lot of men who (still) believe that a daily skin care routine needs to be complicated and lengthy in order for it to be effective. Well, it's not true!
Your skin care routine doesn’t need to be complicated! All you need are the skin care basics that are easy to use, take little time to apply and are designed for regular guys. One of the perfect example is our Native Man Complete Duo , which will helps to take care of everything your skin needs in just two simple, natural products.
Step 4: Avoid Sugar
A lot of people find this hard, especially for those with a sweet tooth. However, sugar is known to exacerbate acne and cause breakouts.
It’s not just sugar that you need to worry about. Any high-glycemic foods that your body must convert into glucose can cause your insulin levels to spike, which then sends a burst of inflammation throughout the body.
Finally...
We know that some of these tips are harder to follow than others - such as avoiding sugar, which is basically in every processed food that we consume on a daily basis.
That’s why we’ve made things easier for regular guys who want to achieve clearer skin. Our skin care system is uncomplicated—because life is complicated enough as it is. Have questions about our skin care products? Get in touch with us and we’ll answer all your skin care questions.

While wearing a beard has become more socially acceptable, you may still wonder whether you should play it safe and shave for an interview. There's isn't one answer to that question: You'll need to consider the employer, along with the condition of your beard, before making a decision.
Yes, I'm gonna shave:
Conventional wisdom calls for men to have a clean shaven face when applying for jobs or during an interview. This means no sideburns, chin whiskers, goatees or beards. Some corporate jobs are very conservative with strict guidelines involving dress codes and appearance. Interviewers are looking for applicants who fit the company image. Financial companies, government operations and medical professions have stricter guidelines when it comes to employee appearance. Do some research on the company or organisation before the interview and find out whether it has any restrictions on employee facial hair.
Nope, I'm keeping my beard:
Not all companies have rigid personal appearance guidelines. It may not be necessary for you to remove a beard for a position in the IT department of a company. IT companies focus more on skill than personal appearance –think Steve Jobs. Other jobs such as journalism, landscaping, architecture and manufacturing may also be more lax when it comes to facial hair. If you are applying to one of these jobs and decide to keep your beard make sure it is properly maintained. Visit a salon or barbershop to have the beard professionally trimmed and shaped before the interview.
When in doubt:
If your beard is sparse and patchy, it may make you look unkempt. Ask a few people who have good judgement what they think. When in doubt, shave for the interview. You can always grow your beard back later.
What to use:
Whether you decided to shave or keep the beard, it's important to keep a clean appearance. When choosing products, make sure they are as natural and organic as possible, as skin are the largest organs of your body, and whatever you puts on them - it shows. One of the example is our The Complete Duo, which has two multifunctional products that will keep you looking fresh and professional, making sure that you are always ready for your next big challenge!

]]>Let’s face it, a man doesn’t want to be seen rubbing cream on his face. A man likes the idea of having craggy lines from the sun-damage that comes from staring down villains at high noon, and the stubble and rash that comes from a hard shave with a knife by a campfire. The romance is real, but so is the damage. Your skin is your largest organ, and it needs care, just as much as your liver does after your mate’s stag-do.
